Refrigeration Condensing Units

The condensing unit is the heart of a cold room. We build box-type (silent, weather-protected), open-type (serviceable, high capacity) and monoblock (plug-in) units around hermetic, scroll and semi-hermetic piston compressors, matched to your evaporator and refrigerant.

Selection guide

What to know before you specify.

A condensing unit combines the compressor, air-cooled condenser, fans, receiver and controls that reject heat from a cold room. Choose hermetic or scroll compressors for small and medium rooms (about 1–15 HP), and semi-hermetic piston compressors for low-temperature, high-capacity or multi-compressor duty.

Common applications

  • Freezer rooms
  • Walk-in refrigeration
  • Cold room refrigeration
  • Small cold rooms
  • Cold storage
  • Refrigerated boxes
  • Low-temp cold rooms
  • Cold room freezers
  • Commercial refrigeration
  • Cold room storage

Box-type or open-type condensing unit?

Box-type units enclose the compressor and electrics for outdoor installation and lower noise. Open-type units give easier service access and suit larger, plant-room installations.

How do I size the condensing unit?

Start from the room’s refrigeration load in kW at the design evaporating temperature, then select a unit whose rated capacity at that temperature and your ambient covers the load with a 10–20% margin. Our estimator on the home page gives a first figure.

Can you match a unit to my existing evaporator?

Yes. Send the evaporator model, capacity, refrigerant and room temperature and our engineers will propose a matching unit and expansion valve.

Tell us the room. We’ll engineer the rest.

Send size, temperature and product — get drawings, a matched equipment list and a quotation, usually within 24 hours on working days.
